Room Decor-A Summer Project

I am blessed to have a job that I love with summers off. One of my crafting projects this past summer was to decorate my daughter's new room. After several hours on Pinterest, (you know how easy it is to spend HOURS on Pinterest!) I decided I wanted to decorate her room with shabby white frames with yellow and gray accents.
I had a blast searching garage sales, antique stores, and Goodwill for vintage-looking frames. I had so much fun that I ended up with too many frames...oops! Once I collected the frames I spray painted each frame in white or gray and then rubbed areas of the frames with sand paper to give it that "vintage" look.
Then I collected letter "A's" (her first initial) from places like Michael's and Joann's.
Using old yellow and gray Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! and fun fabric, I made backgrounds for the frames. You will also see (my favorite) pinwheels using DSP and Stampin' Up ribbon.
Here is the finished product...

Here are a few other room decor items I added...

Purchased from Michael's, I spray painted these wooden birdhouses and added yellow and white ribbon from Stampin' Up! Shelves where ordered from Potterybarn.

Black letters, also purchased at Michael's, sit atop the dresser representing my daughter's initials. Yellow and white Stampin' Up! ribbon was added to complete the look.

Using one of the left-over frames, I hot-glued gray chevron fabric to the back of this frame. Then, using oldSampin' Up! Designer Series Paper, I cut out the states of Oregon and Montana and placed red hearts on the cities where her parents were born. :) I saw a similar project done on Pinterest!

This was one of my favorite projects I have ever done. After the project I found myself looking for other items to spray paint (it's addicting!) and I always keep an eye open for the next great shabby frame. So much fun!
